EDIT: PRINCESS AND THE FROG, resolutions, etc.

Mon Nov 30, 2009, 5:02 PM
  • Mood: Confused
  • Listening to: The Decemberists
  • Reading: The Crucible
  • Watching: Fullmetal Alchemist
  • Eating: Steak
  • Drinking: Water
EDIT2: I don't care what any racist, overly analytical critics say, Princess and the Frog was a fantastic movie, and I encourage everyone to see it. If ANY OTHER Disney movie came out today, it would be just as dissected and sneered at by callous and pretentious critics.....even though there are only five negative reviews, they are all moronic and race oriented. I'm a liberal, and I'm ashamed to see the pathetic attempts to ';protect the black community' other liberals seem to find necessary. They don't even realize how patronizing it is for them to be defending another race, as if that race couldn't do that for themselves if they wanted to. Besides, these analyzations of the racial connotations of Princess and the Frog are riddled with mistakes, stereotypes, and unintentionally racist comments. CAJUN'S ARE WHITE, PEOPLE! A strong cajun accent is not offensive to black people, when will the elitist 'liberal' critics of Hollywood learn?! They're nearly all abominations who would sell their souls to stir up a bit of controversy, and are dead set against hating any movie not aimed towards them. A movie aimed at children didn't center entirely around the segregation of the south?! Oh, no, why wasn't their a lynching in this animated fairy tale?! Silly Disney, getting it wrong again. The only time black people should be used is as a method of easing our own guilt over slavery and racism....as a sympathetic tool for movies, not as individuals with personal hopes and dreams. How could they possibly depict a black woman who's life didn't revolve around ending racism, but instead around *gasp* FOLLOWING HER DREAMS?! This is ridiculous....and how could she spend a large part of the movie as a frog?! If she isn't flaunting her skin color constantly, it means she isn't really black, since, you know, it's not her culture and upbringing that make her black, it's the shade of her skin. And if the shade of her skin isn't the most important part of her character, well then, she isn't really black!

That was sarcasm. I wouldn't normally point that out, but you'd be surprised by the number of people on the internet who don't understand the concept.

Halloween! I need to get a subscription.

RESOLUTIONS

#1. I'm going to attempt to get a boyfriend.
No. Obviously. I think my problem is that the only guys I'm interested in are extremely geeky types, and I can't seem to find any ones who aren't jerks or boring. I WANT TO MEET THE KIND OF AWESOME PEOPLE I MEET ONLINE. I need a real geek, so we can talk about geeky stuff.

#2. I'm going to organize everything perfectly, and get the top grades in the class, no matter what.
Yes. Done. Only problem.....um....trig honors. I'm not acing that class AT ALL. Actually, I'm doing perfectly with the radicals, they're turning out great. But the first quarter....quadratic equations. ADFLSJ;. In fact, and this is really horrible, I failed my first test EVER. I got...I can't even say. I got a 58. IT WAS DEVASTATING. And not entirely fair...she took fourteen (14!) points off because I didn't include the table for a graph, but the test just said graph the equation. We were allowed graphing calculators, SO I graphed it. It was an incredibly long test, with not enough time, etc., and I just FLAILED. And failed. Anyway, besides that, my grades are perfect.

#3. I'm going to treat my friends with respect and dignity, and tone down the crazy just a bit.
I'd say yes. I have no idea what they'd say. Of course, I have been listening to all their ridiculous issues and nodding and giving advice, and I think toning it down. They know I like them, at the very least.

#4. I'm going to exercise regularly and stop acting like being skinny means I'm physically fit.
Yep! Fit as a fiddle.

#5. I'm going to prepare for college applications and the PSATs, and really apply myself too my work.
Hmmm.....somewhat. It's pretty hard preparing for these, what with work and the general lack of resources.

#6. I'm going to work on Zamorozok, including the actual finished pages.
YES. Obviously. The second page will be up by the end of the week.

NO SUBSCRIPTION, AND MY DOG. ALSO PAGEVIEWS! ......ALSO COMIC!

1. I have no subscription. I will get one.
2. My dog is sick. He just had surgery today, and he's fine, but they haven't run any tests yet. Either way, they removed some of his lower intestine, and he's in the animal ICU.
3. Nearing 15,000 pageviews.....we'll see what happens.
4. Zamorozok is under way. My big problem right now is the facial design for the General. If anyone has any suggestions on how to make a charismatic, brooding, manipulative guy in his late 20's, early 30's look the part, LET ME KNOW.

Oh, and I finished re-watching Fullmetal Alchemist today.....waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. And I've had laryngitis for the past three days.

I enjoy you. I enjoy reading your journals and I enjoy your icon. ^^

You were born an original. Don't die a copy :brainless:
:iconbeta-joovey:
Haha! Thanks! I hope my older journals aren't as incredibly embarrassing as I already know they are.

Sokka: You want me to be like you, or totally honest?
Katara: Are you saying I'm a liar?
Sokka: I'm saying you're an optimist. Same thing basically.

:iconbeta-joovey:
I think they look good! You should think about redrawing the lines on photoshop or something, it'll end up looking very clean and nice. Or maybe some complete pieces...

Oh, that's fine. Zamorozok means Frost in Russian. It means more as the story goes on.

Cool. So what time period would you say the comic takes place in? past or future?

Como sey what!?
If pro means good, and con means bad, and progress is good, then what's Congress?
:iconbeta-joovey:
Well, neither really. It's an AU, or an alternate universe. It's based on Russian/Eastern European cultures, and takes place in a sort of hybrid of any time between 1400 and 1800. Odd, eh? Anyway, it has no place in our world time, but I would say that the tech is not advanced at all.
